India pollution prevention authority recommends hydrogen for New Delhi buses

India’s Environment Pollution Prevention and Control Authority (EPCA) has recommended to India’s Supreme Court that Delhi’s entire fleet of public buses should start using Hydrogen-CNG fuel buses by 2020-21.

Hydrogen-CNG fuel is 18% hydrogen but can use existing CNG infrastructure, including the buses, the pipelines, and dispensary stations. It would also reduce carbon emission by an estimated 70% from the buses and a total of 15% over all.

The EPCA views Hydrogen-CNG as a stepping stone to full hydrogen fuel cells in the future.
