The review leads with particular emphasis on the pull of demand from China. The Chinese government take a particular interest in the benefits of hydrogen for air quality and Chinese businesses are interested in purchasing technology companies.

The review then proceeds to give an overview of corporate news and unit shipments before it covers road vehicles – cars, buses, trucks, and refuelling stations. It also covers trains, trams, and marine transport before moving on to stationary systems, military applications miscellaneous applications, concluding with a look back at government support.

For 2018 the review expects that government support will still be very important, particularly continued support in California, Germany, Japan, and China. It further predicts that Chinese support may lead to increased support in Scandinavia, the Middle East, and the rest of Asia.
